The Music I Used To Love

As I have said at least a million times before, music has been in my life since I was really young. I have loved listening to so many different artists. I would fall in love with a different artist’s music and then I would maybe go back to a different artist. When I was young, I only really listened to two different artists, Hilary Duff and the group, Aly and AJ or 78Violet.

I would say that Hilary Duff was my all-time favorite artist when I was younger. Whenever she came out with a new album, I just had to have it. I’m pretty sure I had every album of hers. I would stop liking her for a while and then I would start liking her again when she came out with a new album. Some of my favorite songs by her would be: “Someone’s Watching over Me”, “Who’s That Girl”, and “I Am”. I look back at her music and I ask myself why I liked her so much. There’s nothing wrong with her music. She has such a great voice, but her music doesn’t really fit my life anymore. I tend to choose music that fits my mood at that time that I’m listening. Music that doesn’t fit my mood annoys me. I remember taking one of her albums on a trip with me and my brother snapped it in half with his knee when he was trying to grab something from the back of the car. I was so sad because I had just found that album again and now I had nothing to listen to. This was back in the day when I had an actual CD player and not and IPod and a Droid.

Aly and AJ or 78Violet was my one of my favorite groups when I was younger. My favorite songs by them were: “Sticks and Stones”, “Rush”, and “Chemicals React”. Originally this group was called Aly and AJ and then was later renamed 78Violet. I only really liked this group for a short period of time. When I did like them though, I really, really liked them. I tend to become obsessed with a singer or even just one of their songs. I only have one of their albums and I’m pretty sure it snapped in half somehow, so I had to throw it away. Once I stopped liking this group, I never really liked them again. After I liked them, I found their songs really, really bad and annoying. I don’t think this group is doing any music at this time.

It feels weird looking back on music that I used to like. My taste in music has changed so much since I was younger. I don’t know how I liked the music that I used to like. I find that the music that I used to like annoys me greatly. I think it annoys me because their music just reminds me of Disney because that’s where they got their start. Word count: 500

  1. You make a few statements that beg follow-up, especially at the end:I don’t know how I liked the music that I used to like. I find that the music that I used to like annoys me greatly. I think it annoys me because their music just reminds me of Disney because that’s where they got their start.

That's where the meat of this piece could be! I think examining the way our tastes change is by far the most interesting aspect of this post, yet the concept is given short shrift. Still, this is another solid entry!
