Corry's punishment is an example of a cruel and unusual punishment. Corry is stuck on an asteroid millions of miles away from any humans. That is torture. He is being tortured for a crime that he shouldn't have been punished for. Corry is stuck there with nothing to do and no one to talk to. Sure he had a car to   work on, but that only took up one of the fifty years he was going to be there. He spends his days playing chess with himself pondering whether or not he should commit suicide. Corry's punishment was cruel and unusual.
